Week 13 – The Struggle, The Insight, and The Path Forward

It’s been a tough week. I’ll be honest—I’ve hit a real slump when it comes to my motivation to lose weight. The excitement I had at the start has dimmed, and I’ve found myself easily slipping off the diet. I’ve even had moments where I’ve wanted to go back to the Standard American Diet (SAD) for good. And sure enough, after just a couple of days, I feel the effects—physically, mentally, and emotionally. My energy dips, inflammation creeps up, and I just can’t seem to get anything done.

It’s clear now: the SAD isn’t for me. It never has been.

This morning, though, I had a breakthrough. It hit me that the health issues I’ve been managing with medications—things like blood pressure and blood sugar—have always been tied to what I eat. And rather than relying on pills to mask the symptoms, it’s time to face the root cause: my diet. The solution has been staring me in the face all along.

Yes, it means sticking to the Carnivore Diet. Yes, it means eating far less than I’d like—once a day, in fact. But it’s the only thing that works for my body. It’s not a quick fix, but the long-term benefits are clear.

As I’ve said before, your ideal diet is completely unique to you. You are different from anyone else, and what works for you might not work for someone else. But for me, COMAD (Carnivore + OMAD – One Meal A Day) is the combination that makes sense, even if it’s not the most exciting meal plan. I love bacon and eggs, but let’s be honest: after a while, without the toast and sauce, they get kind of boring.

However, the key takeaway here is that diet and exercise are the real solutions to my health struggles. Who knew, right? It’s so simple, yet so powerful. Now it’s up to me to continue this journey and reclaim my health and vitality.

⚖️ Weight Loss Update

📅 Date📉 Weight (lbs)

2 Jan 2025 – Day 1235.5 (106.8 kg)
31 Jan 2025 – Month 1209.4 (95.0 kg)
28 Feb 2025 – Month 2200.1 (91.2 kg)
31 Mar 2025 – Month 3193.3 (87.7 kg)
28 Mar 2025 – Week 12196.0 (88.9 kg)

📌 This Week’s Change: -1.5 lbs (-0.7 kg)
📌 Total Loss in 90 Days: -40.8 lbs (-18.6 kg)
📌 Average Daily Loss: -0.45 lbs (-0.21 kg)

I used to track my weight daily, and it would often dip almost every day. But now, focusing on it just once a week, I see a slower but steady drop. This really proves that how often you measure can impact how much you manage.

Despite this steady progress, I’ll admit that I’ve allowed myself to lose focus. I’ve let my motivation waver, and now I feel a bit disappointed in myself. I’ve realized that when I don’t focus on my goal, I just drift along, feeling like everything is okay but not making the kind of progress I’m capable of. That’s something I need to work on.

🩸 Systolic Change (Top Number): +12.5
🩸 Diastolic Change (Bottom Number): +8

My blood pressure has gone up a little this week, but it’s still within a healthy range. I’m happy to see it moving toward that ideal 120/80. What’s interesting is that whenever I stray from the diet, my blood pressure goes up. When I get back on track, it drops again, proving just how closely linked my diet and blood pressure are.

⚠️ Note: Please don’t try this without medical supervision. What works for me may not be safe for you.

🧪 Blood Glucose

📅 Date🔬 Glucose (mmol/L)
🎯 Goal4.2
2 Jan 2025 – Day 17.2
31 Jan 2025 – Month 14.4
28 Feb 2025 – Month 25.1
31 Mar 2025 – Month 35.5
28 Mar 2025 – Week 125.0
4 Apr 2025 – Week 135.3

📊 This Week’s Change: +0.3 mmol/L
📊 Days in Normal Range (3.9–5.6): 76 out of 90

Just like my blood pressure, my glucose levels fluctuate based on whether I stick to the Carnivore Diet. It’s another strong reminder of how my diet is impacting my health. When I add exercise into the mix, I’ll be curious to see how it boosts these results even more.

💬 Closing Thought for the Week

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and every day is an opportunity to move forward.”

It’s easy to get caught up in the ups and downs, especially when motivation wanes. But each day is a chance to refocus and keep going. No matter where you are in your journey, remember that small, steady steps lead to big changes. Keep moving forward, even if it’s just one step at a time.

We’ve got this!

See you! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
