The One Food A Day (OFAD) approach may be the most boring diet I’ve tried—but also the most effective. I woke up today with the alarm, but I’m feeling more energized each day, even with less sleep than usual. My body’s catching on, and the results are undeniable.
🥩 Simple Doesn’t Mean Easy
Boredom can be the price of breakthrough.
Let’s be honest—OFAD isn’t exciting. It’s even duller than COMAD (Carnivore + One Meal A Day). But unlike NoMAD (No Meals A Day), where there’s nothing to eat and nothing to be bored about, OFAD offers both challenge and reward. You’re eating—but you’re choosing one thing only. No variety. No cheese. No extras.
Yet that simplicity is working.
🧠 Maturity is Knowing Tomorrow Exists
You don’t need to eat everything now. You’ll have another chance.
When I was younger, I lived like there was no tomorrow. Food, fun, impulse—I didn’t hold back. But with time comes wisdom. You learn that life continues. You don’t need to chase every craving or indulge every moment. You start leaving behind the two-year-old inside screaming, “I want it now!”
The world doesn’t need more grown-up toddlers. It needs grown-ups who’ve grown.
Aging with Fire, Not Fear
There’s peace in getting older—but also power.
If you’ve lived well, there’s a calm that comes in later life. But if you’ve stayed curious and bold, there’s a fire too.
“I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.”
—William Ernest Henley, Invictus
That spirit keeps me pushing. Even with less natural energy, I have more purpose than ever. That’s what drives me: to leave something good behind.
⚖️ Daily Progress: The OFAD Effect
Here’s how I’m doing today, on the morning after my first day of OFAD.

📊 Today’s Change: -0.8 mmol/L
📊 Days in Normal Range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 6 out of 13
Back in normal range—as expected.
Back in the normal range, where it belongs. This is the easiest number for me to manage—just avoid sugar. It’s a powerful lesson: sometimes the best wins come from the most obvious choices.
The Hidden Gift of Boredom
Discipline isn’t exciting. But the life it gives you is.
We often mistake stimulation for fulfillment. But the magic of OFAD is how it strips away distractions and puts you back in control. When meals are boring, you’re free to focus on everything else: your thoughts, your goals, your life.
Boredom, used right, is power. It forces you to pay attention to more than just immediate gratification. And when you pay attention to longer term goals, you change. And each day I spend living intentionally is a gift of positive change for myself and hopefully, for others too. That’s why I write. That’s why I track. That’s why I keep going.
✅ I embraced the Boredom
I wanted real results, so I stopped chasing variety and started chasing victory. I simplified my plate, focused my choices, and let my body do what it was built to do—heal and thrive.
Have an amazing weekend!
See You Tomorrow! 😊
Warmly,
Paul
