Even a small amount of alcohol can leave you feeling off the next day—no headache, no drama, just… less than your best. If you’re chasing real energy and clarity, even a quiet drink with a friend might not be worth the price. For me, it wasn’t. This wasn’t a hangover. It was a wake-up call.
Last night was a rare one.
I hardly drink anymore. In fact, last year’s New Year’s Resolution was to stay dry—and I stuck with it nearly all year. This year’s been much the same.
But when my best buddy rolled into town, we caught up. And yes, we cracked open a few.
🍷 Liquid sugar. The worst kind.
Today, I didn’t feel hungover—I just felt foggy, flat, like I’d dimmed my own brightness. Even when I overdo it now, it’s nothing compared to the old days. But still—I don’t like this version of me.
This isn’t a guilt trip. It’s a choice. I’ve got too much life to live to spend mornings like this anymore.
⚖️ Daily Progress:
Here’s how I’m doing today.

| 8 May 2025 – Worst day | 207.2 (94 kg) |
| 10 May 2025 – Day 1 | 203.5 (92.3 kg) |
| 16 May 2025 – Week 1 | 198.2 (89.9 kg) |
| 23 May 2025 – Week 2 | 195.3 (88.6 kg) |
| 24 May 2025 – Day 15 | 193.8 (87.9 kg) |

📉 Today’s Change: +0 lbs (0 kg)
📉 Total Loss (in 17 days): -6.6 lbs (-3 kg)
📉 Average Loss Per Day: -0.39 lbs (-0.18 kg)
No gain. No loss. Just time to reflect.
I’m not here to break records. I’m here to figure out what really works. If what I learn helps you too—then this effort’s more than worth it.
Blood Pressure (BP)
| Date | BP – Before Food (Best of 3) | BP – Before Food (Worst of 3) | Average |
| BP Goal | 120/80 | ||

| 26 May 25 – Day 17 | 134/87 | 145/101 | 138.5/94 |
💪 Today’s Systolic Change (1st number): -12.5
💪 Today’s Diastolic Change (2nd number): +5
Blood pressure makes no sense. I expected it to rise. Alcohol usually does that. Yet today, it dipped on one end and climbed on the other.
This is why I keep tracking—truth hides in the patterns, not the guesses.
Blood Glucose
| Date | Blood Glucose – Before Food (mmol/L) |
| Blood Glucose Goal | 4.2 |
| 23 Apr 2025 – Worst day | 7.4 |
| 10 May 2025 – Day 1 | 6.4 |
| 17 May 2025 – Week 1 | 4.4 |
| 23 May 2025 – Week 2 | 5.3 |
| 24 May 2025 – Day 15 | 4.9 |
| 25 May 2025 – Day 16 | 6.3 |
| 26 May 2025 – Day 17 | 5.6 |
📊 Today’s Change: -0.8 mmol/L
📊 Days in Normal Range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 8 out of 17
Surprisingly lower. I thought my glucose would skyrocket after the drinks. It didn’t. It held steady, just above normal.
Another reason I track the numbers. Hopefully a pattern will eventually emerge.
🥾 Some Days You Just Push Through
I didn’t bounce back today—I braced and moved forward anyway. That’s what these kinds of days are for. Not every one is heroic. Some are just honest.
And that’s where the real progress lives—in the space between regret and resilience.
If there’s one thing to take away from today, it’s this: protect your morning. Whether it’s alcohol, sugar, screens, or staying up too late—what you allow at night sets the tone for everything that follows. Guard your energy. Guard your clarity. Guard your edge. That’s where the life you want begins.
See You Tomorrow! 😊
Warmly,
Paul
