Day Zero – 1st January 2025
Welcome to the beginning of a new chapter, not just in my life but perhaps yours as well. This is Day Zero of what I hope will be an inspiring, illuminating, and, yes, occasionally playful journey into health, transformation, and self-discovery.
As I embark on this six-month adventure, I’ll keep these daily posts concise yet meaningful. I understand that your time is valuable—whether you’re reading this in real-time or years from now as part of your own quest for change. Let’s skip the fluff and get to what matters: actionable insights, honest reflections, and a shared sense of purpose.
Now, let’s dive in.
The Plan: Carnivore Diet Meets Experimentation
For the next six months (give or take), I’m committing to a carnivore diet—a modern iteration of what many might recognize as the Atkins Diet. My prediction? Significant weight loss, among other changes, some expected and some, no doubt, surprising.
But for me, this journey isn’t just about shedding pounds. The primary reason I’m undertaking this experiment is the promise of cognitive clarity.
I’ve read enough and lived long enough to know that what you eat profoundly impacts how you think. If weight loss is the visible reward, enhanced mental acuity is the hidden treasure I’m seeking.
And as they say: “What gets measured gets managed.” I’ll track the progress, document the changes, and share it all with you—honestly and in detail.
A Layered Approach
This isn’t just about diet. It’s about a complete approach to well-being. Alongside the carnivore diet, I’ll be integrating intermittent fasting, longer fasts, grounding, and other tools I’ve picked up along my 64-year journey.
Each will be introduced one at a time, allowing me to isolate their effects. I want to ensure this isn’t just a story of change—it’s a story grounded in discovery.
Setting the Baseline
To track my progress, I’ll be doing comprehensive blood work—though the local labs won’t reopen until tomorrow. So while the official start of the diet begins tomorrow, on the second day of this new year, today marks the start of preparation and intention-setting. I want a clear and accurate baseline, and jumping the gun would only muddy the waters.
What You Can Expect
Every day, I’ll share a post about what’s happening: the results, the challenges, and the lessons learned. My hope is that these updates will feel like a conversation with a trusted friend—one who’s been around the block a few times and wants to see you succeed just as much as themselves.
Together, we’ll explore not just weight loss or dietary tweaks but the deeper questions about how we care for our bodies, our minds, and our souls.
See you tomorrow for the official Day One.
Warm regards,
Paul
