Day 31: A Fresh Start—Making up for Years of Self Neglect

I woke up today feeling great, even though I only had four hours and twenty minutes of sleep. I have some inflammation, but it’s much less than the last time I broke my diet. To my surprise, when I took my measurements, I found I had lost weight, and my blood glucose was still in the normal range.

Just one month on the Carnivore Diet, and my insulin response is already starting to normalize. I’m shocked that it’s happening this quickly. This is the first time I’ve ever come off a ketone-based diet and back onto a glucose-based one without my weight going up.

The scale this morning was a pleasant surprise. I can’t believe the results came so fast—both in terms of my weight and glucose levels. I expected these internal changes to take longer to happen, but here we are.

Daily Progress

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Report: I lost 0.6 lbs (0.3 kg) today.

Total Loss: 26.7 lbs (12.1 kg) in 30 days.

Average Loss Per Day: 0.89 lb (0.40 kg)

To be honest, I expected to gain some weight after breaking my diet yesterday, but to my surprise, I lost a bit. This is fantastic!

It occurred to me that I might start resetting my diet at the end of each month—on the last day, no matter what. It could serve as a fresh start and help my body stay in a state of progress.

Now, I’m really curious to see what happens tomorrow now that I’m back on my COMAD (Carnivore + OMAD (One Meal A Day)) regimen. This weight loss journey is starting to get more interesting, and I’m really curious to see where it goes!

Report: My blood pressure went up and down today.

My systolic blood pressure (the first number) went up by 21.

My diastolic blood pressure (the second number) went up by 13.5.

My blood pressure went up today, as expected, and the jump was big enough to notice. That said, this is to be expected after breaking my diet, but it’s something I’ll need to keep an eye on. I’ll handle it with the medications I have on hand for days like this, and monitor how things change over the next few days.

Medication

I took my medicines today to hammer my blood pressure back down.

Report: My blood glucose went up by 0.2 today.

Days within the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 26 out of 27

My blood glucose stayed the same today.

Even though I expected it to spike after breaking my Carnivore Diet, I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s still within the normal range. This is a new experience for me, as glucose has usually spiked dramatically when I’ve reintroduced carbs before. The fact that it’s staying stable is a positive sign.

Exercise

Today, I walked over 8,000 steps, which was great. But I also helped some friends move heavy items, which made the walking feel like more of a workout.

What’s the difference this time compared to the past? I felt so much better afterward. It took about half an hour to recover, and I was ready to go again. It’s clear to me how much stronger and more energized I am compared to my past self.

One of the surprises today was that I even felt like I didn’t have arthritis anymore, I was walking so easily. I even broke into a little jog and I haven’t done that in over 5 years!

What’s Next?

I’m so curious to see how the rest of this year unfolds now. I’m seeing these improvements in my health so early. I’m more confident than ever that this diet is working for me and I’m wondering if it can reverse years of laziness and give me many more great years of life.

The Carnivore Diet is truly reshaping the way I feel, and the changes are happening faster than I ever imagined.

Tomorrow will show me even more about how this reset works for my body.

See you then! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
