Day 18: Embracing Flexibility in My Weight Loss Journey

Wow, today has been a mixed bag! My inflammation flared up quite a bit this morning, mostly in my neck, shoulders, and back. I realized this was likely the result of having a single meal from the Standard American Diet (SAD).

The discomfort stayed with me for a while, but once I had my afternoon OMAD (One Meal A Day) meal, it disappeared. By the time I was out for a walk later, I was feeling as strong and tall as before, and the pain had completely gone.

As expected, my weight jumped up a bit, but that’s alright. This is part of the process, and I’m staying positive. I know that with the restart of OMAD, I’ll soon see the numbers going down again, especially with the adjustments I’m making to my plan.

Daily Progress: Tracking The Numbers

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Weight Loss

2 Jan 2025 – Day 1235.5 (106.8 kg)
9 Jan 2025 – Week 1224.6 (101.9 kg)
16 Jan 2025 – Week 2217.4 (98.6 kg)
17 Jan 2025216.7 (98.3 kg)
18 Jan 2025216.5 (98.2 kg)
19 Jan 2025218.9 (99.3 kg)

Report: Gained 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg) today.

This brings my total weight loss to 16.6 lbs (7.5 kg) in 17 days.

An average of just under 1 lbs (0.45 kg) a day.

As I can’t fast at the moment due to the work I’m doing, today I’ve decided to switch things up and remain on OMAD (One Meal A Day) until I can get the daily weight loss back to 1 lb a day. This might take a little time, but I’m confident it will get me back on track.

Report: My blood pressure was down today.

Systolic blood pressure

The first number, which shows the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats, is down by 43.5!

Diastolic blood pressure

The second number, which measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats, is down by 18.0!

My blood pressure dropped dramatically today. I wasn’t expecting it to happen so quickly, but I’ll take it! My blood pressure is now in the healthy range (90/60 – 120/80), and I didn’t take any medication today to see if it stays there.

I’ve said it before but I think it’s worth repeating. Check with your own doctor on any changes you want to do with regard your medications. You and they know your body far better than anyone else. This is just what I’m doing. It’s not advice, just an honest statement of what I’m experimenting with, with my body. Please don’t follow this without expert advice.

Blood Glucose: A Little Setback

18 Jan 20254.2
19 Jan 20255.9

Report: My blood glucose went up by 1.7 today!

My blood glucose increased today, which is no surprise. Eating carbs yesterday pushed me into the pre-diabetic range (5.7–6.9 mmol/L). Carbs, especially sugar, affect me badly, and when I indulge, my body responds accordingly.

However, I’ve seen this happen before, and I expect my glucose levels to return to the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L) in the next few days.

Progress Is Key

Though the journey has its ups and downs, I’m feeling very optimistic. Having that very painful inflammation for the first half of today was a very good reminder of what carbs actually do to my body.

Recently I’ve learned a lot about flexibility, consistency, and the need to adapt my approach. The Carnivore Diet, combined with fasting, has brought remarkable results so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues to transform me.

I’m confident that with each adjustment, I’m getting closer to my goal. The key is perseverance and trust in the process.

See you tomorrow! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
