I woke up today feeling surprisingly good, even though I only got four hours and thirty-five minutes of sleep. It’s still a little shocking to me how much better I feel with less sleep now, thanks to the Carnivore Diet!
I never thought I’d be able to function so well on so little rest, but here we are. I know I’ll get used to it, and it won’t feel so strange after a while. But for now, I’m going to enjoy the child-like wonder of this new state of being.
Daily Progress
Here’s how I’m doing today:
Weight Loss
Date | Weight (lbs) |
Weight Goal | 176.0 (80.0 kg) |
2 Jan 2025 – Day 1 | 235.5 (106.8 kg) |
31 Jan 2025 – Month 1 | 209.4 (95.0 kg) |
1 Feb 2025 | 208.8 (94.7 kg) |
2 Feb 2025 | 212.3 (96.3 kg) |
Report: I gained 3.5 lbs (1.6 kg) today.
Total Loss: 23.2 lbs (10.5 kg) in 31 days
Average Loss Per Day: 0.75 lb (0.34 kg)
Well, it looks like the weight gain from breaking the diet was just postponed. As I chose to break the diet, I’m willing to accept this slight setback and move on. The good news is, I’m still on track and continuing to make progress.
Right now, I’d love to kick-start my weight loss again with a long multi-day NoMaD (No Meals A Day) fast, but with all the paid and unpaid work I’m doing, I just can’t make it happen right now. For now, I’ll stick with COMAD (Carnivore + OMAD (One Meal A Day)) and fast when I can.
Blood Pressure (BP)
Date | BP – Before Food (Best of 3) | BP – Before Food (Worst of 3) | Average |
BP Goal | 120/80 | ||
2 Jan 25 – Day 1 | 155/103 | 166/102 | 160.5/102.5 |
31 Jan 25 – M’th 1 | 125/81 | 129/84 | 127/82.5 |
1 Feb 2025 | 143/92 | 153/100 | 148/96 |
2 Feb 2025 | 100/72 | 107/73 | 103.5/72.5 |
Report: My blood pressure went way down today.
My systolic blood pressure (the first number) went down by 44.5.
My diastolic blood pressure (the second number) went down by 23.5.
The drop in systolic pressure left me feeling a bit light-headed when I stood up yesterday, which was a new experience for me. I now understand why low blood pressure can make people feel unwell. It wasn’t fun!
When I took my medications yesterday, they worked too well, so I’ll be more careful with the dosage in the future. But I’m only taking them rarely now, and most days, I don’t need them at all.
This process is personal for me, and I’m not recommending anyone follow my exact approach. Please consult with your healthcare professional about what works for you.
My COMAD eating style is handling the blood pressure very well now, since I’ve been on it long enough now for it to work.
Blood Glucose
Date | Blood Glucose – Before Food (mmol/L) |
Blood Glucose Goal | 4.2 |
2 Jan 2025 – Day 1 | 7.2 |
31 Jan 2025 – Month 1 | 4.4 |
1 Feb 2025 | 4.4 |
2 Feb 2025 | 4.1 |
Report: My blood glucose went down by 0.3 today.
Days within the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 27 out of 28
I’m still amazed at how such small changes in my diet have brought such big improvements to my life. No more energy crashes like I used to have with my diabetes. Now, I feel a steady, consistent flow of energy that lasts throughout most days.
It’s been almost a month now, and I still can’t believe how much of a difference a few simple dietary changes have made!
Exercise
Today, I walked just over 4,000 steps. It’s a bit low, but I didn’t even notice I wasn’t getting my usual steps in because I was so busy with other things.
I also took a two-hour, 40-minute nap this afternoon. I wasn’t expecting to feel tired, but when your body needs rest, you listen. After the nap, I woke up feeling amazing and was ready for my evening business meetings. Obviously this flexibility isn’t available to everyone during the week days, but it’s a Sunday and that gave me the opportunity to fit it in, so I did.
Continuing the Journey
I’m still curious to see how the next few days and weeks will unfold. It’s amazing to think how much has changed in just one month, and I’m looking forward to the next steps in this journey. My focus is on maintaining my progress and continuing with the Carnivore Diet to see just how far it can take me.
Thank you for reading and being part of this journey with me.
See you tomorrow! 😊
Warmly,
Paul
