Day 38 – Battling an Aching Back, But Staying on Track

Today, I’m feeling a bit off. My back is aching, and I’m limping a bit. It makes me feel older than I am, even though my health numbers are looking great. I know what would help—using my inversion table to hang upside down for about 30 seconds. It really stretches out my whole body. It’s funny how surprised people get when I ask my wife to “hang me” when we get home please, when we’re out in public.

But my inversion table is at home, and I’m not. I tried a hot bath, which usually works wonders, but not today.

I’m going to give it a try with a hot shower and some dynamic stretching tomorrow morning and see if that does the trick.

Daily Progress

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Weight Loss

DateWeight (lbs)
Weight Goal176.0 (80.0 kg)
2 Jan 2025 – Day 1235.5 (106.8 kg)
31 Jan 2025 – Month 1209.4 (95.0 kg)
6 Feb 2025 – Week 5204.4 (92.7 kg)
7 Feb 2025206.4 (93.6 kg)
8 Feb 2025204.2 (92.6 kg)

Report: I dropped 2.2 lbs (1 kg) today.

Total Loss: 31.3 lbs (14.2 kg) in 37 days

Average Loss Per Day: 0.85 lb (0.38 kg)

Losing 2.2 lbs (1 kg) today is great! However, my weight seems to be stuck around 204 lbs and doesn’t want to drop lower. I’m hoping that taking a break from my diet at dinner tonight might shake things up and push the scale lower over the next week. I’m crossing my fingers.

Blood Pressure (BP)

7 Feb 2025113/71120/71116.5/71
8 Feb 2025121/79133/84127/81.5

Report: My blood pressure went up today.

My systolic blood pressure (the first number) went up by 8.5.

My diastolic blood pressure (the second number) went up by 10.5.

Honestly, this increase doesn’t concern me. It’s still in a healthy range, and I’ve seen such steady improvement over time. I know that it’ll continue to go down as I stay on track, so I’m going to be patient.

Blood Glucose

DateBlood Glucose – Before Food
(mmol/L)
Blood Glucose Goal4.2
2 Jan 2025 – Day 17.2
31 Jan 2025 – Month 14.4
6 Feb 2025 – Week 54.7
7 Feb 20254.2
8 Feb 20254.2

Report: My blood glucose stayed the same.

Days within the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 32 days out of 34 days.

My blood glucose has stabilized at my goal, and I’m happy with where it is. This is what I’m aiming for, and I plan to keep it that way throughout the year.

Learning from Setbacks and Moving Forward

Tonight, I broke my Carnivore Diet, and within a few hours of eating carbs, I felt drained. It’s clear now that carbs don’t work for well for me the way proteins do. Of course, everyone’s body reacts differently, and this is just how mine handles things.

But that’s okay. I’m not discouraged. Part of this journey is about learning what works and what doesn’t. I’m going to keep experimenting and adjusting, but for now, I’ll stick with what’s been working. I know it takes time to find the best path, and I’m committed to staying on track.

The key is to listen to my body and be flexible along the way. This is just one step in the journey — and when I look back, these challenges won’t mean much at all.

See you tomorrow! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
