Day 40 – Embracing Flexibility on My Carnivore Journey

I woke up this morning feeling amazing—no aches, no pains—just a renewed sense of energy and motivation. I’m back on track! No drugs, no alcohol, just good old food, and only a little bit of it.

As I reflect on this journey, I’m reminded of the saying, “You are what you eat.” But now, I understand that it’s also “You are what you don’t eat.” I know it sounds quirky, but that’s how I think.

I approach things from all angles and try to understand both sides, so that I can find the middle ground. I call it “Goldilocks thinking.” I don’t get swept into extremes; instead, I look for the most workable version of things in my life.

“Right” and “wrong” are too rigid for me. What’s more important is finding what’s workable, doable, and effective—those are the true keys to making progress in any area of my life.

Daily Progress

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Weight Loss

2 Jan 2025 – Day 1235.5 (106.8 kg)
31 Jan 2025 – Month 1209.4 (95.0 kg)
6 Feb 2025 – Week 5204.4 (92.7 kg)
7 Feb 2025206.4 (93.6 kg)
8 Feb 2025204.2 (92.6 kg)
9 Feb 2025207.5 (94.1 kg)
10 Feb 2025210.3 (95.4 kg)

Report: I gained 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) today.

Total Loss: 28 lbs (12.7 kg) in 38 days

Average Loss Per Day: 0.74 lb (0.33 kg)

I’m choosing to see today’s weight as my new starting point. I’ve realized that the ups and downs in these past five and a half weeks are part of the process. Moving forward, I’m focused on making the next five and a half weeks better than the last.

I’ve worked out that the ideal plan for me is the COMAD diet (Carnivore + One Meal A Day) in two-week blocks. My plan is to stick to my diet for about 13 days, then take a break for one meal, and restart. I’ll keep up this cycle until I reach my weight, blood pressure, and glucose goals.

Certainty About My Plan

It feels great to have some certainty about my plan. I’ve learned that at the beginning of any new venture, it’s important to be certain about the goal but flexible about the method. The goal is non-negotiable, but how I get there can always change.

When I achieve my goal, all the doubt and confusion will melt away, and what I’ll be left with is the satisfaction of success.

But if I never push beyond my comfort zone (which includes every negative thought I’ve ever had about myself) I’ll never grow. And I refuse to live a life of complacency. I’d rather struggle and learn, than settle and be bored.

There are no mistakes—only lessons. I either learn from success or failure. But the key is to always learn. That’s what matters.

And the more times I go though this growth process, the less frustrating and painful it is. Try it. You probably won’t like it. But you’ll love the results!

Report: My blood pressure dropped today.

My systolic blood pressure (the first number) decreased by 3.5.

My diastolic blood pressure (the second number) decreased by 1.

I’m assuming this is my new starting point for blood pressure, just like with my weight. I know that with two more weeks on the diet, these numbers will keep dropping toward my goal. Easy peasy!

Days within the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 33 days out of 36 days.

Perfect—just within the normal range. A great starting place for my next push toward achieving my ultimate goal of reversing my insulin resistance!

Eye on the Goal, but also Enjoying the Journey

No matter where we are in our journeys, it’s important to keep moving forward. Even on the tough days, when things don’t seem to be going my way, progress is still being made. I just have to trust in the process and take each step one at a time.

I’ve learned that perseverance and consistency are the key ingredients to success. Sorry, I know I say that over and over again, but some things are worth repeating, even if it gets boring.

Whether you’re facing setbacks or enjoying victories, it’s the commitment to keep going that will lead you to where you want to be. Every step, every decision, and every challenge is part of your bigger picture.

So let’s keep moving forward. Each day is a new opportunity to get closer to our goals. Together, we can achieve great things. I’m going to make it and that’s my wish for you too; to finally burst through all your self-limitations and push onto a better life!

See you tomorrow! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
