Day 53 – Breaking the Carnivore Diet and Resetting the Journey

Yesterday, I did something I haven’t done in a while—I broke the Carnivore Diet harder than I have before. I ate far more than I’ve been eating, and I stretched my eating time over 10 hours instead of the usual 20 minutes I’ve stuck to for the past month.

Now, I’m curious about what’s going to happen over the next few weeks and months. Maybe this is the jump-start I needed to get the weight loss going again, after it plateaued. Only time will tell.

Daily Progress

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Weight Loss

31 Jan 2025 – Month 1209.4 (95.0 kg)
6 Feb 2025 – Week 5204.4 (92.7 kg)
13 Feb 2025 – Week 6205.0 (93.0 kg)
20 Feb 2025 – Week 7202.2 (91.7 kg)
21 Feb 2025203.1 (92.1 kg)
22 Feb 2025202.6 (91.9 kg)
23 Feb 2025207.0 (93.9 kg)

Report: I gained 4.4 lbs (2 kg) today.

Total Loss: 28.5 lbs (12.9 kg) in 52 days.

Average Loss Per Day: 0.55 lbs (0.24 kg).

Well, this is more like the weight gain I’m used to when I break the Carnivore Diet. Normally, I see massive weight gain overnight, but this time, it took two days.

Today I’ve gone back to my COMAD (Carnivore + OMAD) routine and I’m hopeful that this big weight spike means my body thinks we’re done with the Carnivore diet for now. The adjustment back to COMAD should now signal to my body that we’re still actively pursuing fat loss and not yet ready to settle at a higher set point.

With that out of the way, I’m hoping my body relaxes its protective mechanisms and allows me to lose some real weight over the next two weeks. But I’ll admit, my initial idea that I could average a pound of weight loss per day now seems a bit like wishful thinking 😊

Report: My blood pressure is up and down today.

My systolic blood pressure (the first number) is up by 0.5.

My diastolic blood pressure (the second number) is down 4.5.

Given the weight gain, I was expecting a bigger spike in blood pressure, but it wasn’t as dramatic as I feared. For now, I’m happy to leave it as it is, without taking medication.

As I shed the weight, I’m confident my blood pressure will improve too, as long as I keep sticking to my COMAD diet.

23 Feb 20256.7

Report: My blood glucose went up by 0.7.

Days within the normal range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 47 days out of 52 days.

Based on my past experience, I expect this to come back down and stay within the normal range once I’m back on the COMAD diet for a while longer. The big question is just how quickly it drops back down.

Reflecting on the Journey so far

It’s been an interesting day of reflection. Breaking the diet and giving my body a little more freedom has shown me just how much control I really have over what I put into my body.

I know a bit more about what works and what doesn’t, and I’m now in a place where I can make these adjustments and move forward. Each step—whether it’s a small victory or a minor setback—is part of the journey.

By sharing my highs and lows, I hope my experience helps you on your own health journey.

See you tomorrow! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
