Day 62 – The Power of Sleep: What Experience Teaches You That Theory Can’t

I’m learning so much, so fast, by experimenting on myself with this Carnivore Diet. This isn’t just book knowledge or something I picked up in a random health article. This is deep, bone-level understanding. When you live something, truly experience it firsthand, it stops being a theory and becomes an undeniable truth.

That kind of certainty is priceless. No one can argue me out of what I now know about the Carnivore Diet, fasting, and even sleep deprivation. I don’t just believe these things—I’ve tested them, felt their effects, and seen the results with my own eyes.

Of course, this kind of knowledge comes with a cost. It takes time. It takes discipline. But if you could feel the confidence I have now in how my body works, you’d probably agree—it’s worth it.

The Most Important Lesson So Far

Here’s something I can say with absolute certainty: sleep is a huge part of anything to do with ideal health.

It’s not just a “nice-to-have.” It’s a must-have for health, energy, and sanity. And if it’s that important for those three, I know it plays an even bigger role in the background, shaping everything else—my metabolism, my mood, my ability to push forward every day.

I used to think of sleep as something flexible, something I could trade off when life got busy. Now? I see it as one of the most powerful tools for my success.

Daily Progress

Here’s how I’m doing today:

Weight Loss

3 Mar 2025201.5 (91.4 kg)
4 Mar 2025203.8 (92.4 kg)

📉 Today’s Change: +2.3 lbs (+1 kg)
📉 Total Loss (in 60 days): -34 lbs (-15.4 kg)
📉 Average Loss Per Day: -0.57 lbs (-0.26 kg)

I took a two-day break and gained 3.3 lbs (1.9 kg). That’s actually lower than I expected, given how much I ate. Dropping that weight should take about three days, and then I’ll be back on track toward my goal. If this reset also helps fix my sleep cycle, then it was well worth it.

💪 Today’s Diastolic Change (2nd number): +5

Now that I’m back on zero carbs, I expect this number to start falling again soon. Let’s see what happens over the next few days.

📊 Today’s Change: +0.8 mmol/L
📊 Days in Normal Range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 52 out of 61

This is probably as high as my blood sugar will go now that I’m back on COMAD (Carnivore + OMAD, One Meal A Day). The fact that I didn’t go above the pre-diabetic range (5.7-6.9 mmol/L) after my break is a great sign.

The only thing I’ve changed is adding a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement. I don’t know yet how that’ll affect my progress, but as always—I’ll keep testing and learning.

Effortless Fasting?

What an interesting day!

I was so focused at work that I forgot to eat the lunch I brought. Then I got caught up in a full, hard day of getting things done. Before I knew it, it was 6 pm, and I still hadn’t eaten.

By the time I finished everything and got home, it was 9:30 p. I looked at my food, thought about it for a second, and decided, Nah, I’ll just eat tomorrow.

That means I’ll have fasted for over two days without even trying.

That’s the thing about fasting now—it’s effortless. My body has adapted so well that skipping meals doesn’t feel like a struggle anymore. It’s just part of the rhythm of my life.

Final Thoughts for the Day

I’ve always known that experience is the best teacher, but this journey is proving it over and over again. Knowing something because you lived it is a whole different level of understanding.

I’ve learned that sleep is just as important as food. That weight gain after a break isn’t a setback—it’s just part of the process. That my body is getting more efficient at burning fat and using energy.

And today? I re-learned that I can fast for two days without even noticing.

See you tomorrow! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
