Day Seven: OMAD and Carnivore – Progress and Adjustments

Combining OMAD (One Meal A Day) with the Carnivore Diet yesterday didn’t deliver the weight loss I hoped for—just 0.7 lbs down. While it’s still progress, I’ve learned the importance of making changes along the way.

Fasting for 23 hours was great for my body, giving it a break from constant digestion, but the scale didn’t seem impressed.

I broke my fast at 6:10 pm today, eating for less than an hour.

But delaying eating until this late in the day led to an energy slump, earlier on at around 3 pm. So I took a two-hour nap—a rarity now that I’m off carbs.

Over the past four days, I’ve only needed one nap, a big improvement from when I relied on carbs and napped almost daily.

Then last night, despite less sleep than usual—only five and a half hours—I woke up feeling refreshed and energetic. The steady energy levels on the Carnivore Diet continue to amaze me.

No spikes, no crashes, just a gradual increase in vitality day after day.

My Daily Progress

Weight Loss

6 Jan 2025227.7 (103.3 kg)
7 Jan 2025226.9 (102.9 kg)
8 Jan 2025226.2 (102.6 kg)

Report: Down 0.7 lbs (0.4 kg) today, bringing my total to 9.3 lbs (4.2 kg) in six days.

As per Rule #7, if I lose less than a pound in a day, I stay on OMAD. Today, I’m following the same pattern, but tomorrow I might switch back to two meals, depending on the results.

I also realized my morning pinch of salt might break my fast, making my eating window longer than I thought. If my weight loss doesn’t improve tomorrow, I’ll adjust by taking salt only during my OMAD eating window.

Report: BP is finally falling.

Systolic blood pressure

The first number, which measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats, is better than Day 1.

Diastolic blood pressure

The second number, which measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats, is also better than Day 1.

When I asked my doctor yesterday if the Carnivore Diet would lower blood pressure, he said, “Not directly. But weight loss will.”

So as my weight decreases, I expect my blood pressure to keep improving. My goal is to reach 120/80 by the time I hit my target weight of 176.5 lbs (80 kg).

Blood Glucose

5 Jan 20256.0

7 Jan 20255.4
8 Jan 20254.7

Report: Blood glucose is now the lowest it’s been so far, at 4.7 mmol/L.

It’s well within the normal range (3.9 to 5.6 mmol/L), and I expect it to consistently stay there as long as I’m on the Carnivore Diet.

Six Days In: Reduced Hunger and Cravings

High-protein, high-fat meals keep me full for hours—or in the case of OMAD, for days. Tonight, close to midnight, I still feel satisfied from the one meal I had earlier.

When I was eating carbs, I struggled with late-night snacking every day. Now, simplicity rules: I skip one meal, and snacks aren’t even on the table.

And not having cravings makes sticking to OMAD easier than it ever was before.

See you tomorrow with another update! 😊

Warmly,
Paul
