Round 2, Day 44 – From Progress to Plateau: The Hidden Toll of Sugar on Your Health

I slept horribly last night. Cramps, reflux, tossing and turning—I even had to get out of bed just to walk it off. That kind of night is no mystery anymore. I know exactly what caused it: sugar.

Not an entire day of bad choices, mind you. I stuck to Carnivore most of the day. But dinner was a slide into the Standard American Diet. And wow—my body noticed. At 64, even small slips hit hard. Once you’ve experienced what “good” feels like, the contrast of “bad” is brutal.

🧠 “Routine is timed repetition in action.” That’s a truth I live by now.

Tomorrow, I return to COMAD (Carnivore + One Meal A Day). I also decided to take my meds tonight—especially the anti-inflammatory one. It might help my body flush out the inflammation this sugar surge caused. I’m learning that even one day off is a real test, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

⚖️ Daily Progress:

📉 Today’s Change: +6.4 lb (2.9 kg)
📉 Total Loss (in 44 days): -11.9 lbs (-5.4 kg)
📉 Average Loss Per Day: -0.27 lbs (-0.12 kg)

One single night of indulgence just reversed nearly four weeks of progress. This isn’t just a bounce. It’s the biggest one-day gain I’ve recorded in over two decades of tracking my weight.

That’s failure as well as feedback. There’s no sugar coating this kind of result.

As we age, our margins shrink. The same food that once left me unfazed now knocks the wind out of my sails. The price of freedom is higher—but so is the reward for discipline.

Want to feel young again? Then eat like your future depends on it.
Because honestly—it does.

Interestingly, blood pressure is the least reactive of my three key metrics. Maybe it’s not as food-sensitive as I once thought. A friend recently told me it’s more affected by exercise. I think he’s right. Time to walk more.

This is stunning—in the worst way. It’s my highest glucose reading ever. One night of sugar spiked me straight into the danger zone. If that’s not proof the SAD (Standard American Diet) is a fast track to diabetes, I don’t know what is. This number isn’t just data—it’s a warning. My body doesn’t just dislike sugar—it breaks under it.

“The Body Remembers”

Even one detour reminds me: the path matters. Your body keeps the score. For weeks, I’ve stayed consistent and strong. Then one indulgence, and everything groans. The energy dips, the scale jumps, the sleep vanishes. This isn’t punishment—it’s feedback. And that feedback helps me adjust, improve, and recommit.

🔄 The plan remains: COMAD, one tweak at a time. I’m considering testing a new weight loss aid soon—not as a shortcut, but as an addition to my solid base. The discipline of this journey lets me test things cleanly, one variable at a time. That’s how real progress is made.

Quote of the Day
“Every setback holds a mirror to what still needs your care.”

Tomorrow is reset day. And you can bet I’ll be ready.

See You Tomorrow! 😊

Paul
