How the SAD Diet Aged Me—and Why Carnivore Rewinds the Clock
Before I cleaned up my eating, I didn’t even notice how bad the Standard American Diet (SAD) was making me feel. But once I gave myself enough time on Carnivore to feel the difference, I realized how much younger and stronger I could be—just by changing what I eat, how often, and when.
🧠 You don’t know how bad it is—until you feel better.
Back when I was eating like most people, I didn’t question the slow slide into aging. I thought feeling stiff, tired, and heavier every year was just part of getting older.
But that wasn’t true. Not for me. And as I keep saying, just because this happened to me, doesn’t mean it is or will happen to you. And my solutions might not be effective for you. But if they give you hope that you can find your own solutions and that you can improve you own conditions for the better, then my efforts will not have been in vain.
Only once I stuck with Carnivore long enough did I really see results—not just for a few weeks, but for months—I saw something powerful: aging isn’t just about years. It’s about inflammation, sugar, and stress. And when you cut those down, your body gives back energy, focus, and freedom.
Like that old saying goes: “To a worm living in horseradish, the whole world is horseradish.” I didn’t know what my new “normal” could feel like until I stopped living inside a food fog.
Daily Progress
Here’s how I’m doing today:
Weight Loss
| Date | Weight (lbs) |
| Weight Goal | 176.4 (80.0 kg) |
| 8 May 2025 – Worst day | 207.2 (94 kg) |
| 10 May 2025 – Day 1 | 203.5 (92.3 kg) |
| 16 May 2025 – Week 1 | 198.2 (89.9 kg) |
| 17 May 2025 – Day 8 | 196.2 (89 kg) |
| 18 May 2025 – Day 9 | 202.2 (91.7 kg) |
📉 Today’s Change: +6 lbs (2.7 kg)
📉 Total Loss (in 9 days): -5 lbs (-2.3 kg)
📉 Average Loss Per Day: -0.56 lbs (-0.26 kg)
Big spike today! I didn’t expect the weight to bounce back this fast—it didn’t even jump like this when I took a full month off Carnivore recently. This is more like how my body used to behave before I passed 90 days on the diet in the last round.
Tomorrow will be telling. The numbers will be the result of 2 days on SAD, but at least I’m back on COMAD (Carnivore + One Meal a Day) now—and anyway, I’m curious to see what happens anyway.
Blood Pressure (BP)
| Date | BP – Before Food (Best of 3) | BP – Before Food (Worst of 3) | Average |
| BP Goal | 120/80 | ||
| 12 Apr / 24 Apr 25 – Worst days | 134/86 | 161/88 | 147.5/87 |
| 10 May 25 – Day 1 | 151/86 | 168/88 | 159.5/87 |
| 16 May 25 – Wk 1 | 133/83 | 150/94 | 141.5/88.5 |
| 17 May 25 – Day 8 | 146/97 | 152/97 | 149/97 |
| 18 May 25 – Day 9 | 138/86 | 149/89 | 143.5/87.5 |
💪 Today’s Systolic Change (1st number): -5.5
💪 Today’s Diastolic Change (2nd number): -9.5
Not perfect yet, but headed in the right direction. I took my meds today, so I expect to see tomorrow’s numbers land below 140/90, which is right where I want them.
Funny how my blood pressure loves the SAD diet, isn’t it? 😏 But I know better now—and I’m back in control. I’ll use my meds for now and see what aerobic exercise and weight training does to these numbers once I’m down to my goal weight and rebuilding speed, stamina and strength back up from there.
Blood Glucose
| Date | Blood Glucose – Before Food (mmol/L) |
| Blood Glucose Goal | 4.2 |
| 23 Apr 2025 – Worst day | 7.4 |
| 10 May 2025 – Day 1 | 6.4 |
| 17 May 2025 – Week 1 | 4.4 |
| 18 May 2025 – Day 8 | 5.6 |
| 19 May 2025 – Day 9 | 6.8 |
📊 Today’s Change: +1.2 mmol/L
📊 Days in Normal Range (3.9–5.6 mmol/L): 5 out of 9
I’m still in the pre-diabetic zone today. Honestly, after yesterday’s unexplained spike, and how many carbs I had yesterday, I expected this number to jump above 7. So I’ll take 6.8 as a small win. It reminds me that even when things feel off, eating well still keeps me from falling off a cliff.
It’s Not a Setback—It’s a Reminder
Slip-ups aren’t failures. They’re reminders.
When you fall off the plan and feel the difference, you remember why this lifestyle matters. Every spike in weight, blood sugar, or blood pressure brings me back to my foundation: I feel best when I eat clean, stay focused, and stick to what works.
🌟 Stay on the Path That Works
If you’re tired of feeling older than you are, don’t wait for a breakdown to make a change. Start now by removing the biggest causes of fatigue—processed foods, sugar, and constant grazing.
COMAD is giving me clarity, energy, and control, but your ideal diet may be the exact opposite. Every body’s unique and so will the diet that fits you and yours.
When you find what works, stick with it. That’s the real secret to staying young longer.
Hope you’re enjoying the last little bit of this weekend everyone!
See You Tomorrow! 😊
Warmly,
Paul
